Kindergarten Field Trip ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฆ
A friendly reminder that our field trip to Franklin Park Zoo will take place this Thursday, June 4th. Please be sure to send your child to school with a brown/disposable bag lunch on this day if they did not order one from the cafeteria. If you are in need of a brown paper bag please don't hesitate to let me know! I have plenty in the classroom and can send one home with your child tomorrow (Monday). A notice with more tips and reminders will be sent home in your student's Boyden folder early in the week.
Senior Clap Out
On Tuesday, we had the honor of celebrating former Boyden students who will be graduating from high school this year! Congratulations to the class of 2026! ๐งก๐
ABC Countdown
The ABC Countdown continued last week as we celebrated the letters I, J, K, and L!

Luau Day ๐ด
Curriculum Update:
Reader's Workshop
Last week in Reader's Workshop we completed module (unit) 8 in our HMH curriculum! Throughout this unit the students worked hard to answer the question, "How do plants become food?". The books Rainbow Stew by Cathryn Falwell and How Does Your Garden Grow? by Francie Alexander really helped us to solidify our understanding of this essential question. Also last week we reviewed the concepts of visualizing, identifying the author's purpose, and putting steps in a sequence.
Math
Concepts such as addition and subtraction and place value were reviewed last week as the students completed activities which corresponded to the day's ABC Countdown theme. On Friday, the class was introduced to a new concept, fact families, and complete tropical fact family pineapples to display their new learning! ๐
Science
Thursday was a bittersweet day as we said good-bye to our beautiful butterflies! We had SO much fun watching them grow and change as we learned about the butterfly life cycle. ๐ฆ
A Peek Inside Specials ๐
It's never too late in the school year to learn something new! Last week the students learned how to use Indi Cars in Media/Stem!
We're excited to swing into another week!
Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K! ๐๐๐
