A Peek At Our Week!

 What a wonderful first few days we had together in Room 115! I am SO impressed with how quickly all of the children are adjusting to Kindergarten life. Please enjoy our first blog update for the 2026-2027 school year! 🍎

Arrival This Week!

Starting tomorrow (Monday) the Kindergarten students will be going right to their classrooms in the morning. We will no longer be meeting in the cafeteria first.

Lunch Order Form

Thank you SO much to all of the families who filled out the lunch order form last week. It helped our morning get off to a smooth start, and I can't thank you enough for your help! Please click here to complete a form for the week ahead.

*It's perfectly fine if your child ends up changing their mind on if they are getting school/home lunch. Please just send me a quick email to let me know if possible. :)

Classroom Update:

A Perfectly Messed Up Story 📖

Last week the class enjoyed learning about all of the fun things in Room 115! A special highlight was learning about our classroom library. We started by reading The Perfectly Messed Up Story by Patrick McDonnell, and through this story we learned the importance of taking care of books and treating them in an expected way. After reading, the students learned how to use our classroom library! Looking at a book from our library area is always a choice for students who finish with their work early. 

Be a Bucket Filler 💗

Another story we enjoyed today was How to be a Bucket Filler by Carol McCloud. This book taught us about kindness! We learned that everyone has an invisible bucket, and when we do or say nice things it fills a person's invisible bucket up! After reading, each child colored their own bucket. This was a great opportunity to discuss the expectations for coloring in Kindergarten. When coloring the children are expected to stay inside the lines, make all the white space disappear, and use appropriate colors (i.e. trees should be green, strawberries red, etc.). It is important to note that at this age, your child's fine motor skills are still developing. Every student is expected to work to the best of their ability, but by no means am I expecting perfection!

Where is Pigeon? 🔎

We ended our week by reading the book The Pigeon HAS to Go to School! by Mo Willems and going on a pigeon hunt around Boyden School! The pigeon sent us on quite an adventure as we searched locations such as the office, cafeteria, music room, gym, and even Mr. Dearborn's office! It seems as though he was too fast for us to catch! Luckily our hunt had a happy ending as the pigeon was waiting for us when we returned to our classroom! I wonder how he got there! 🤔

A Peek Inside Specials

Last week the students enjoyed their first Media/Stem class! Media/Stem will consist of traditional library elements such as read alouds and book check out, but it will also include hands on experiences which integrate science, technology, engineering and math as well. Students can look forward to bringing their first book home from the media center in the next few weeks!

• What does it mean to be a bucket filler? What are some ways you can fill someone's bucket?
• Ask your child to tell you about our classroom library. How do you know where a book goes when you are done reading it (hint colors and numbers)
• What was your favorite activity in Media/Stem?
