More information will be shared as the time gets closer, but please be sure to mark your calendar for this very exciting day!

ABC Countdown!
We had a great time kicking off our ABC Countdown to summer as we celebrated the letters A, B and C last week!

Bubble Day! 🫧
We were so glad the weather cooperated long enough for us to celebrate bubble day on Thursday!

Chalk Day

Curriculum Update:

Reader's Workshop
Last week in Reader's Workshop we continued module (unit) 8 titled From Plant to Plate, and worked hard to answer the essential question: "How do plants become food?" We enjoyed reading the books Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt by Kate Messner, and Earthworms by Lisa J. Amstutz, which helped us build a deeper understanding of this unit's theme. The children also continued to make and check predictions, identify the central idea of a text, and compare and contrast information.

Some students chose to make earthworm crowns at Quiet Time! These special crowns displayed facts we learned last week. Did you know that earthworms do not have eyes OR ears?!? 🪱

Phonics
Last week in phonics we continued to practice reading words with initial/beginning blends, or when two consonant letters appear before the vowel. The focus of our learning was blends with the letter r, and the students did a great job decoding words such as crab, drop, and grin.

Math
In math we continue to practice solving addition and subtraction story/word problems, and circled back to measurement last week as well!

Another highlight of our week was visiting Mrs. Hix's classroom and helping her second grade students with a measurement project they were working on!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K! 🍎📖🚌
