Curriculum Updates:

Fundations
Last week in Fundations the children learned about the letters a and g. We also practiced reading the sight words "was" and "for". Our color of the week was purple!

Reader's Workshop
Last week in Reader's Workshop we continued to explore "learn about the world" books also known as nonfiction texts. The students learned that they can reread books again and again (just like rewatching a favorite movie) and when they do, they can notice new things! We started by noticing new things in the pictures, and by the end of the week were starting to notice letters and sight words we've learned!

Math
In math we reviewed patterns and writing numbers to 5 last week. If you feel that your child could use more practice with identifying and extending patterns, click here to have them watch a fun and engaging video we used in class! In the week ahead we will begin Unit 2 which will continue to strengthen your child's understanding of numbers to ten.

Writer's Workshop
In Writer's Workshop last week we began our Show and Tell unit! The class did a wonderful job drawing the items they brought in from home. This week we will finish our drawings and begin "writing" about our items by labeling our pictures with the beginning sound. You can expect your child's show and tell item to come home at the beginning of the week. My apologies for the delay!

SEL
On Wednesday Mrs. Alden visited our class for an SEL lesson! During her visit the class enjoyed the book The Recess Queen  by Alexis O'Neill, and used the story as a catalyst for discussing friendly and unfriendly behaviors both on the playground and in the classroom.

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K! 🍎📖🚌
