Announcements:

Quiet Time Changes
With the pace of the curriculum picking up this month, we will be shortening the length of our daily Quiet Time and only using our towels and stuffed animals on Fridays. Please have your child keep their furry friends safe at home until this day. Stuffed animals should not be brought to school on Monday-Thursday.  I will be sending home quiet time towels to be washed every other Friday. Thank you!

Scholastic Book Orders
There's still time to order Scholastic books for your child this month. Please use the QR code on the flyer that was sent home to see the great titles that are available!

Curriculum Update:

Happy Birthday Johnny Appleseed!
On Tuesday the class learned about and celebrated a beloved fall figure, Johnny Appleseed! Happy Birthday Johnny!

We also enjoyed participating in many apple themed activities last week! We learned about the life cycle of an apple, and read many poems and books about apples. 🍎

The students above work hard on an apple poem craft project. Click here to hear us read this fun fall poem!

Fundations
Last week in Fundations the class learned about the letters m, and n. We also practiced reading the sight words "a" and "and".

Math
We continue to build our number sense in math as we explore numbers to 5. Last week we showed the numbers 1-5 on our five frame mats, and used our fingers to show how many boxes were full and how many were empty. At the end of the week we learned some fun number formation poems to help us with wrtiting these numbers.

The class also continues to enjoy exploring math manipulatives during our work station time.

The students below play a new work station game called Spilled the Beans. This game helps with our number formation/writing skills!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K! 🍏📖🚌
