A Peek At Our Week!

Sunday, October 14, 2018
It was another fun and exciting week in Room 202! Please enjoy some of the highlights below!

Announcements

Room Parents
A very big THANK YOU to all those who volunteered to be a room parent for our classroom! The response to my request was so overwhelming that I was forced to pick names from a hat! I am excited to share that Mrs. Fazio, Mrs. Holland, and Mrs. Wheeler will be our room parents this year! Thank you again for all those who expressed interest. Numerous volunteer opportunities will arise throughout the school year so please don’t despair if you have not yet been contacted.

Curriculum

Literacy
Last week in Literacy we read the story Julius by Angela Johnson and discussed the question, "How do people in a community cooperate? We also practiced the sight words "to" and "a", learned about the letters "C" and "O" in Fundations, and reviewed the letter "M"!

Designing their own matching mittens was a great way for the students to review the letter "M" last week. They also enjoyed their first "Write the Room" activity where they searched the classroom for words that had the letter "M"!

Math
In math we revisited Geometry last week! The children enjoyed working with patterns blocks as they practiced making shapes from other shapes. We learned that two trapezoids make a hexagon, three triangles make a trapezoid, and three rhombuses make a hexagon!

Mrs. Tilton Visits!
We were excited to welcome Mrs. Tilton back to Room 202 last week! During her lesson Mrs. Tilton taught us about expected and unexpected behaviors. We learned that expected behaviors are things we are supposed to do, like raise our hand in class and play nicely with our friends. Unexpected behaviors are those that do not follow the rules, like talking when the teacher is talking, or pushing other children outside.

The class did a great job drawing pictures of behaviors that are expected and unexpected.

Franklin Park Zoo!
It was a fantastic day at Franklin Park Zoo on Friday and we were SO lucky the weather cooperated for our trip! A BIG thank you to Mrs. Fairchild, Mrs. Farley, Mrs. Fazio, and Mrs. Holland for joining us and sharing their great pictures. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at our week! Please check back soon to see all that it new in Room 202! :)
