Announcements:
Field Trip
Our field trip to Franklin Park Zoo will take place this Friday, October 12th. Please be sure to send your child's signed permission slip and fee ($13) to school tomorrow if you have not already done so. A notice with helpful tips and reminders will be send home at the beginning of the week in order to ensure that our trip is a successful one. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
Library
A friendly reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday) is library day. Please have your child bring their book to school with them so that they will be able to check out a new one. Thanks so much for all of your help!
Curriculum:
Literacy
Last week in Literacy we read the story Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten by Joseph Slate. This story helped us discuss the essential question, "How do people in a community cooperate?". We also learned about the letters "i" and "u" in Fundations and continued to practice the sight words "the" and "little".
Last week's literacy centers provided the children with the opportunity to practice reading sight words and review their rhyming skills. We also incorporated science and art by creating beautiful fall trees using paint and Q-tips!
Math
Our class enjoyed another visit from Boyden's math consultant, Mrs. Kelly, last week! Mrs. Kelly continued to build our number sense skills by having us create various number patterns, and show the different ways to make numbers using two different colored counters.
The game "Left, Right, Center" was a fun way for the students to practice telling the difference between left and right!
