Thank You Walpole PD!
A big Boyden thank you to the members of the Walpole PD who spoke to all of the Kindergarten classes about school safety last week! It was wonderful to see our school resource officer, Officer Hart, and his new police dog pup, Birdie!

A Visit from JiJi!
We also enjoyed a visit from our math coach, Mrs. Rinaldi, and everyone's favorite ST Math mascot, JiJi! Mrs. Rinaldi congratulated our class on the great start we've gotten with ST Math, and JiJi enjoyed posing for a class picture! πŸ§πŸ’ž

Curriculum Update:

Into Reading
Last week in our Into Reading program we continued to answer the essential question: What makes each of us special? We read the stories I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont and ABC I Like Me! by Nancy Carlson to help us deepen our understanding that our unique traits and differences are what set us apart from others. Last week's lessons taught us to identify the topic, theme, and central idea of stories, and we explored to concept of letters verses words as well.

Fundations
In Fundations the class learned about two new "magic c" letters, a and g! We also practiced reading the sight/heart word of. The color of the week was purple.

Math
In math we continue to explore the numbers 0-10 and spent extra time with how these numbers are written/formed! The students enjoyed participating in their first Write the Room activity on Friday where they looked for dot cards around the classroom, and wrote the number that appeared on each. It was a great way for us to get up and moving at the end of the week!

Math games continue to provide students with the opportunity to practice their counting and number identifying skills.

Writing
In writing we continue to practice our drawing skills! Last week the students drew houses and boats using shapes that they know. In the week ahead we will explore drawing characters and settings, a skill the aligns beautifully with our Intro Reading curriculum!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon as we learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K! πŸŽπŸ“–πŸšŒ
