A Peek At Our Week!

Monday, October 12, 2026

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! Please see below for pictures and updates from Room 115. 🍂

Important Dates:

Announcements:

Jury Duty
Unfortunately I will not be in school tomorrow (Tuesday) as I have to report for jury duty in Boston. Please email the office directly with any important information, such as changes to your child's dismissal routine as I will not have access to my phone for most of the day. I'm hoping to be back at school on Wednesday. 🤞

Author Visit
A big thank you to Boyden's Media Specialist, Mrs. Moses, for oranizing a very special visit from author and illustrator Chris Eliopoulos! The students had a wonderful time learning about the writing and publishing process, and even doing their own directed drawing with Chris.

Welcome Mrs. Rinaldi!
We welcomed Boyden's math coach, Mrs. Rinaldi, to Room 115 last week! Mrs. Rinaldi introduced to ST Math, a computer based program which we will use throughout the year to practice and strengthen our math skills. The students enjoyed learning all about ST Math and starting to solve puzzles!

Curriculum Update:

Fundations
Last week in Fundations the class learned about the letters m, and n. We also practiced reading the sight/heart word to. Our color word was yellow!

We also continue to practice our rhyming skills, and have learned that words that rhyme sound the same at the end.
Reading
Last week in our Into Reading program we read the book Schools Around the World by Clare Lewis, and continued to answer the essential question: What will I discover in Kindergarten? Last week's lessons also introduced us to the genre of informational text, and had us identifying the central idea of various books. It sure was a busy week for learning new skills!

Math
In math we completed the first unit in our new Bridges curriculum! Last week's lessons focused on patterns. The class learned that patterns are colors, pictures, words, or movements that repeat.

Colorful seat cushions are also great for making patterns!

Writing
In writing we continued to learn about drawing people by using shapes that we know. Last week's lessons also focused on adding details such as hairstyles and facial expressions. We used these new skills to help us draw self portraits!

Students used a mirror to check their eye, hair, and skin color, along with other details that were unique and special to them! 🪞

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow,                                                     and play in the wonderful world that is K! 🍎🚌📖
