Announcements:

Curriculum Night
It was so nice to see so many of you at our parent curriculum night last week! If you were unable to make it, or would like the review the information shared again, I have included a link to my slideshow HERE. I look forward to seeing everyone again for the fall parent/teacher conferences that begin at the end of October.

Lunch Forms
This week I will not be sending out a lunch form as I want to see if the children are able to remember if they are getting a school lunch or brought a lunch from home on their own. If it would give you peace of mind to email me (especially on a day they are supposed to get school lunch) you are more than welcome to.

Curriculum Update:

Reading
Last week in reading we continued to explore module (unit) 1 which is titled: Curious About Kindergarten. We worked hard to answer the essential question, "What will I discover in Kindergarten?" by reading the stories A Squiggly Story by Andrew Larsen, and One Happy Classroom by Charnan Simon. We also practiced identifying the characters and settings of these texts, and were introduced to the genre of fiction. For foundational skills, the class reviewed uppercase letters with straight lines such as T, F, and I, curved lines such as C, U, and S, and both straight and curved lines such as B, D, and P.

Math
We continue to build our number sense in math as we explore numbers to 5. Last week we showed the numbers 1-5 on our five frame mats, and used our fingers to show how many boxes were full and how many were empty. At the end of the week we learned some fun number formation poems to help us with writting these numbers, and played a fun game called Spill the Beans!

Welcome Mrs. Arnold!
We were very excited to welcome Mrs. Arnold, Boyden's Digital Learning Coach, to Room 115 last week! Mrs. Arnold taught us about different forms of media and how to use them safely. We are looking forward to having her back soon to teach us how to log into our Chromebook computers!

If Mrs. Arnold looks familiar it's because she is my twin sister! 😂

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K! 🍎📖🚌
