Parent/Teacher Conferences
Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences are right around the corner, and will begin on the evening of Tuesday, November 12th. Please click here to schedule your appointment with me! It is important to note that our meeting will only be 10 short minutes, and due to the number of parents I will be meeting with, things tend to run behind. If you would prefer to meet on a different day either before or after school please don't hesitate to reach out. I am more than happy to accommodate you!
Smore
If you haven't already, please be sure to subscribe to Mr. Dearborn's weekly Smore. This provides more details and information about events that are happening around our school. Click here to view last week's edition!
Curriculum Update:
Fundations
Last week in Fundations the children learned all about the letters a and g. We also practiced reading the sight words it and is. Our color of the week was pink!
Last week we read the books Snail and Worm Again by Tina Kugler and Pete the Cat Too Cool for School by Kimberly and James Dean as we continued to answer the question: What makes each of us special? We also learned about synonyms and antonyms, and identified the problem and solution in the stories we read.
Math
A Sneak Peek into Specials and More Learning Fun!
Last week in math we continued to explore numbers 0-10. Our week began by learning about tally marks and how they can be helpful for organizing our numbers and counting by fives. The class had a great time representing numbers 5-10 by using popsicle sticks as tally marks!
The students above make a fun tally mark project after reading the story Five Little Pumpkins. We also use the rhyme "one, two, three, four, number five shuts the door!" (just like the door on a gate) when writing tally marks!
Fall Fun!
Friday's beautiful weather made it the perfect day for some fall fun! We enjoyed listening to, and sequencing the events in the story The Very Last Leaf, learning about why leaves change color in the fall, and even going on the leaf hunt! It was the perfect way to end a busy week!
Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K! πππ
