Curriculum Update:

Literacy
Last week in Literacy we learned about the letters X and Y and were introduced to the sight words "for" and "he"!

Math
In math we started Unit 7 which focuses on addition! We began our exploration by learning about the concept of joining, or putting groups together. This was followed by the introduction of the + and = signs. We will continue to practice adding and writing addition number sentences in class this week before we transition to subtraction.

Before introducing the students to the concept of addition, we first explored the idea of joining, or putting groups together. The students above can be seen practicing this skill as they joined cube "trains" together and counted their new total number of cubes.

Science
It was an exciting time for science last week as Miss Karen from High Tech High Touch visited our classroom! She did a wonderful, highly engaging presentation titled "Weather or Not". We really enjoyed her visit!

Suction cups were used for a fun (and challenging!) activity that taught us about pressure!

Pinwheels were an engaging way to teach the class about wind speed and direction!

Miss Karen's tornado tubes were one of the many highlights of her visit!

The children also enjoyed getting the opportunity to touch Miss Karen's lightning ball and even hold a cloud! A big 'thank you' to Miss Karen and Boyden's PAC for making this amazing visit possible!

Mrs. Tilton Visits
We welcomed Mrs. Tilton back to Room 202 last week! During her visit Mrs. Tilton read The Thankful Book  by Todd Parr and encouraged the children to think about all of the things that they are thankful for. This was a great activity as the Thanksgiving holiday is quickly approaching!

The students above are carefully coloring pictures of things they are thankful for.

Thanks SO much for stopping by to learn about all of the fun and exciting things happening in Room 202! I hope everyone has a wonderful week and a very Happy Thanksgiving!
