Kindergarten Field Trip
A friendly reminder that our field trip to Franklin Park Zoo will now take place this Tuesday, June 3rd (it looks like the weather will be SO much better!). Please be sure to send your child to school with a brown/disposable bag lunch on this day if they did not order one from the cafeteria. If you are in need of a brown paper bag please don't hesitate to let me know! I have plenty in the classroom and can send one home with your child tomorrow (Monday).
Lost and Found
The items below have been left in the classroom and are looking for their owners! Please let me know if either of these belongs to your child. :)
ABC Countdown
It was another busy week for our ABC Countdown to Summer! Last week the class enjoyed movie, neon, outside, and Playdoh days.
Neon Day 🧡💛💚
The class enjoyed finding objects that were longer and shorter than a glow stick, playing neon teen number bingo, and making neon jellyfish after listening to the story The Jellyfish Who Lost Its Glow.
The students above practice their subtraction skills by playing Subtraction Smash with their Playdoh!
On Friday afternoon we spent some extra time outside and finally got the chance to fly a kite! 🪁
Media/Stem
It's never too late in the school year to try and new kind of technology!
Curriculum in the Week Ahead:
Fundations
We will learn the last two sight words when and what. We will also review sentence writing and spend extra time on questions as Monday is Question Day!
Reader's Workshop
Focus on the essential question: "How do plants become food?" will continue. We will read the books Rainbow Stew by Cathryn Falwell and How Does Your Garden Grow? by Francie Alexander. We will also review the concept of visualizing, identifying the author's purpose, and putting steps in a sequence.
Writer's Workshop
In Writer's Workshop the class will practice writing questions on Question Day and about a stuffed animal on Stuffed Animal Day. The children will also have the opportunity to write a narrative or informational text about our trip to Franklin Park Zoo!
Math
In the week ahead the students will continue to solve word problems/number stories, as well as practice their addition and subtraction fact fluency. We will also explore place value concepts and complete activites that focus on the concepts of "more" and "less".
Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K! 🍎🚌📖
