Book Character Dress Up Day!
A friendly reminder that the Kindergarten classes will be having a book character dress up day this Friday, March 3rd. Students are asked to dress as their favorite storybook character as we celebrate the end of Read Across America week. Please click here for more details about this very exciting day.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
It's hard to believe but spring parent/teacher conferences begin next week! Please use the links sent out in Mr. Dearborn's SMORE* to schedule your apppointment. I am looking forward to speaking with you about your child's progress!
*If you don't receive Mr. Dearborn's SMORE please let me know. I'm more than happy to forward it to you!

Curriculum Update:

Math
The week before vacation we started a unit on geometry! We reviewed the names of 2D shapes and discussed various attributes of each shape. The students also participated in many activities that had them sorting shapes in many different ways.

Reader's Workshop
In Reader's Workshop we celebrated the end of our reading superpowers unit in a very special way! After receiving a mystery package and letter, we learned that our class was being invited to join the League of Super Readers! Each child received their very own cape and mask, and definitely looked the part as we took the super reader's pledge!

The class was very excited (and slightly confused) by a mystery package that was delivered to our classroom on Friday afternoon.

Our newest super readers!

Writer's Workshop
We also completed our unit on personal experience/narrative writing prior to the break. To celebrate our hard work, we partnered up with students from Mrs. Arnold's first grade class to share our stories. This week we will begin a unit on procedural/"how to" writing which is always a favorite in Kindergarten!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to watch us learn, grow, and play in the wonderful world that is K!

Kindness Week 2023

Our class had a wonderful time celebrating Kindness Week right before the break. Please enjoy some pictures from activities we participated in!

We had a great time working with students from Miss Moylan's fifth grade class as we completed a special kindness project.

We showed kindness and our appreciation for Boyden's hard working custodians by making them special cards.

On Friday we celebrated Pink Shirt Day by designing our own pink kindness t-shirts! 💓

Kindness is definitely the new cool! 😎

Happy Valentine's Day!
