A Peek At Our Week!

Saturday, September 10, 2022

Our school year is certainly off to a great start and it's hard to believe we've only been in school for 4 short days! This week the children learned all about our classroom, school, and the other students in our class!

Important Dates:

September 20th:
Open House/Curriculum Night
(Parents/Guardians Only)

September 23rd:
Half Day of School
(No Lunch Served)

Announcements:

Reminders:
Quiet time towels were sent home on Friday to be washed. Please have your child bring their clean towel back on Monday! It would also be helpful if you could continue to have your child wear their dismissal tag to school this week, as well as fill out the lunch form (green) that was sent home on Friday.

Our Busy Week:

Scavenger Hunt!
Last week the children put their knowledge of Room 115 to the test as they went on a classroom scavenger hunt! Finding the calendar, their cubby, and the classroom library were just a few of the stops on their list.

Classroom Rules
We spent a great deal of time last week talking about the rules and expectations for our classroom. After reading stories such as David Goes to School and Miss Nelson is Missing, we brainstormed our own set of rules for Room 115. We were able to consolidate our very length list into three major behavior expectations: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful! We learned that when we follow these three rules then we are able to have fun!

Not only did we discuss how to be safe and kind to the people in our classroom, but we also learned how to be kind to our learning tools. The students above practice handeling our classroom books carefully and returning them to the correct place in the library.

Media/Stem
One of our new specials this year is Media/Stem! This special combines our traditional library visit with opportunities for exploration with manipulatives, technology, and more!

The students enjoyed building with some of the manipulatives Mrs. Moses has in the Media/Stem lab!

Where is the Gingerbread Man?
On Friday we went on a hunt for the Gingerbread Man who was loose in Boyden School! While we searched locations such as the office, cafeteria, and gym, it seems as though he was too fast for us to catch! Luckily our hunt had a happy ending as the Gingerbread Man left us a fun activity to complete when we returned to our classroom!

Our first few days in Kindergarten were a huge success! I'm looking forward to continuing our work together next week! :)
