Announcements:

Thank You Ms. Lane!
A big Room 202 "thank you" to our Framingham State student teacher Ms. Lane! Ms. Lane has been with us since the first day of school and will be finishing up her time in Kindergarten this week before she heads to her first grade placement. We are so thankful to have had Ms. Lane as part of the Room 202 family for these first (and VERY important) few weeks of school. We will miss you Ms. Lane!

Media Monday
A friendly reminder that our media/library day is Monday. Please be sure to have your child bring back their book so that they are able to check out a new one. Thanks so much in advance for your help! :)

Curriculum Update:

Reader's Workshop
Last week in Reader's Workshop we discussed and explored old storybook favorites! We learned that when we hear a story over and over we can start to recite/read that story ourselves!

Fundations
In Fundations we learned all about the letters c and o last week. We also practice reading the sight words "of" and "you".

Writer's Workshop
In Writer's Workshop we continue to practicing stretching out our words and writing all the sounds we hear. We also are working hard to remember and apply all of the skills we have learned so far to make our writing the best it can be! On Friday, Mrs. Miles helped to kick off the next part of our writing unit which involves getting ideas for, and practicing storytelling!

Science
Last week in science we studied squirrels! We discovered that squirrels are great balancers and can use their tails for many things, including keeping themselves warm and dry. We also learned that squirrels can trick other animals by pretending to bury acorns when they actually have them stored away in their cheek pouches. So cool! On Thursday we put our observation skills to the test as we went on a squirrel hunt! Unfortunately we didn't find any squirrels but we did enjoy seeing all of the nature around Boyden School! Your child's unfinished squirrel observation paper was sent home last week. While I told the children they could finish their paper at home if they happen to see a squirrel, this is not a formal homework assignment and I am not expecting anything to be returned to school

It was another great week in Room 202! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)
