Guest Readers Wanted!
In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America day, I am inviting parents, friends, siblings, or neighbors to be guest readers in our classroom for the month of March! As a guest reader you may share a book that was a favorite of yours growing up, or a favorite of your student. If you would like to read but need assistance making a book selection I am more than happy to help! Use the comment box on the digital sign up to tell me what you plan to read or comment "need book" if you would like me to pick one for you. It is important to note that each guest readers visit should be about 5-10 minutes long. I have created an online sign up for all those that are interested. Click here to view the dates and times that are available!  In the event that the times listed are not convenient for you please don't hesitate to let me know and I will adjust our schedule as best I can to accommodate your visit. ALSO it is always fun to keep our guest readers a surprise so mums the word!

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Spring parent/teacher conferences are just around the corner and will take place on Thursday, March 12th from 6-8PM, Friday, March 13th from 1:00-3:00PM, and Wednesday, March 18th from 6-8PM. Please be on the lookout for an email from Mr. Dearborn about how you can schedule your conference. I look forward to meeting with everyone soon!

Quiet Time Towels
Your child brought home their quiet time towel for washing on Friday. Please return clean towels to school tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help!

Novel Effects
Looking for a fun way to jazz up your bedtime stories? Check out Novel Effects! This free app adds background music and sound effects to your child's favorite stories. We have been using it in the classroom and the kids can't get enough!
Curriculum Update:

Literacy
In Literacy the children continue to practice tapping out CVC words such as mat, dog, and lip. We were also introduced to the sight words one, two, three, four and five!

The students enjoyed finding their "matches" as they completed a morning meeting activity which reinforced the tapping concepts we have been working so hard on!

Math
Last week in math we continued to decompose (break apart) numbers and learned all of the ways to make 8 and 9! We also practice writing the different ways using tricky number sentences which placed the sum and equals sign BEFORE the two numbers we were adding!

Number bracelets (shown above) were a great hands on way for the students to show ways to make numbers 5-10.

Indoor recess didn't get these kiddos down! It was SO fun to see their creativity at work!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to see all that is new in Room 202!
