Quiet Time Towels
Your child brought home their quiet time towel for washing on Friday. Please return clean towels to school tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help!

Curriculum Update:

Literacy
Last week in literacy we read the story My Lucky Day by Keiko Kasza, and discussed the question, "What adventures can you have on a lucky day?". We also continued to review the sight words do, are, and that and also learned about the letter L!

We had a great time designing our own llamas after reading the story 'Is your Mama a Llama?' by Deborah Guarino.

In Fundations the students have been learning to read nonsense words like "naf", "pif", and "dom". During Center Time last week the children practiced this skill by playing a fun game called Dump Truck! Players picked cards and practiced reading the nonsense words they selected. If you picked a dump truck card you had to put all of you nonsense words back into the bucket. Womp! Womp! This interactive game was a very engaging way for the students to practice this new skill!

Math
Last week in math we continued to decompose (break apart) numbers and learned all of the ways to make 6 and 7! We also practice writing the different ways using tricky number sentences which placed the sum and equals sign BEFORE the two numbers we were adding!

Guest Readers
A big Boyden "Thank You" to Mr. Fazio and Mrs. Cady who came to read to our class this week! After hearing Mr. Fazio read Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, we decided to answer the question: "Would you like green eggs and ham?" by creating our own class graph!

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at our week! Please check back soon to see all that is new in Room 202!
