Personal Best Karate
On Tuesday, the kindergarten, first, and second graders enjoyed a presentation by Mr. Mosca from Personal Best Karate in Norwood! Mr. Mosca discussed the importance of respect and self-discipline, while also teaching the children appropriate ways to stand up for themselves. Personal Best Karate will be running an after school program for students which will be starting in a few weeks. Be on the lookout for more information that will be coming home with your child soon!

Curriculum Update

Literacy
Last week in Literacy we read the story Dig Dig Digging by Margaret Mayo. This story helped us answer the essential question, "How do machines help people work?". We also continued to review the sight words "to" and "a" and learned all about the letter T!

Math
In math we began a unit which explores the numbers 1 to 5. Last week the children did a wonderful job counting, writing, and representing numbers while completing a variety of fun and engaging math centers!

Science
The beautiful weather has made it a spectacular time for science in Room 202! Although it has been feeling quite summer-like lately, we have still been enjoying learning about the changes we can observe in the fall.

After reading the book, We're Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger, the students had a great time looking for leaves of their own! We used our leaves to complete a 'Leaf Report' where the children had to record the size and color of their leaves. We ended our exploration with some fun leaf rubbings!

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at our week! I hope you enjoyed learning about all that is new in Room 202!
