Announcements:

Library
A friendly reminder to please have your child find and return any overdue library books that might be laying around. Mrs. Moses will begin inventorying all of the materials in Boyden's Media Center this week. Thanks so much for your help!

Quiet Time Towels
Please be sure to send in your child's clean towel for Quiet Time tomorrow. Thank you so much!

Updates:

Sight Words
The children have now been introduced to all of the sight words that they need to know in Kindergarten! We will spend the next two weeks reviewing these words through interactive games and activities. A final set of sight word flashcards will be sent home with your child tomorrow (Monday) so that they are able to practice outside of school. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!

Fundations
In Fundations we continue to practice reading words with digraphs both in isolation and in sentences. The class is also becoming more comfortable with "scooping" sentences which is improving their use of expression and intonation.

Math
In math last week we continued our unit on measurement! The children used various nonstandard units such as cubes, paper clips, pennies, and even pieces of pasta to measure items in the classroom (and even their own feet!). This week we will explore how weight and capacity is measured.

Reader's and Writers Workshop
In reader's and writer's workshop we continue to read non-fiction texts and work on our persuasive/opinion writing. Additionally, we are also enjoying literacy activities that align with our ABC countdown to summer! These activities include the use of student readers, writing prompts, and read alouds, just to name a few! I look forward to continuing the countdown this week as we enjoy even more fun themed learning experiences!

Science
Last week in science we continued to learn about seeds and what they need to grow! We ended the week by planting our own flower seeds and hope to plant some bean seeds in the week ahead!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to see all that is new in Room 202!
