A Peek At Our Week!

Sunday, May 23, 2021

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed today's summer-like weather! It's hard to believe that we are entering our last full week of May! A friendly reminder that we will be continuing with our ABC Countdown to Summer this week. Please be sure to check the calendar I sent home for each day's activities!

Math
Last week in math we continued our unit on measurement! We learned that capacity is how much a container can hold, and that weight is how heavy or light an object is. We had a great time experimenting with different objects and balance scales, and look forward to continuing our exploration in the week ahead!

Reading (and Writing too!)
Reading and writing came together last week as we completed many "craftivities" which incorporated our ABC countdown to summer! After reading I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen the children described their own perfect hat! This was a great connection to the letter H and hat day!

F is for Friendship!
On Wednesday we celebrated the letter F and had Friendship Day! We read the book Peanut Butter & Cupcake by Terry Border and learned that even the most unlikely pair can be great friends! The class then did a beautiful job drawing and writing about one of their friends and how they are the same and different.

Friendship Day was also the perfect time to head outside and make some friendship bracelets!

G is For Game Day!
Game Day was also a great success! Thank you to all of the families that sent in games for the class to enjoy. We had an absolute blast!

E is for Exercise!
We couldn't have asked for better weather to celebrate the letter E with an exercise day! The students had SO much fun completing various exercise stations outside.

Science
It was a bittersweet time in Room 202 last week as we said good-bye to our butterfly friends. Our five painted lady butterflies were released and are now flying free and enjoying life in the outside world. While we miss them already, we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to watch them grow and change!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to see all that is new in Room 202!
