Pajama Day Thursday!

To celebrate the last day of school before the winter break, our class will be having a pajama day on Thursday! Students who wish to participate may wear their pjs, robes, slippers etc. to school on this day.

Library Tomorrow!

A friendly reminder that our class visits the library/media center on Mondays. Please have your child return their book so that they are able to select a new one. Please also return your child's clean quiet time towel as well. Thanks so much for all of your help! :)

Q and U Wedding

Friday was a special day as we celebrated the union of Q and U who are now forevermore joined in sound! The day started with a wedding shower where the students brought in quarters, q-tips, unicorns and umbrellas (just to name a few) for the happy couple. We then proceeded to our quaint and unique ceremony. Congratulations Q and U!

Reader's Workshop

Last week in Reader's Workshop we read and recited the nursery rhyme Jack and Jill! We also discussed characters and setting, and learned that the characters are the people or animals a text is about, and the setting is where the text takes place! We continue to practice making connections to the books, poems, and rhymes we have been reading in class as well.

The Brain Show!

Our week got off to an exciting start as we enjoyed a very special assembly (our first in almost 2 years!). The Kindergarten and first grade classes enjoyed showing off their "school smarts" as they competed in The Brain Show! We are SO proud of our Room 202 friends who were selected to play. Great job!

Fundations

In Fundations we learned about the letters y and x last week. We worked hard to not only learn the sounds associated with these letters, but also how to form and write them neatly. Through our practice we learned that x and y are both sliding letters! In the week ahead we will explore our last two letters of the alphabet qu and z!

Math

It was an exciting time in math last week as the students continued to practice their addition skills! Now that the children are becoming more confident adders, we were able to move away from direction instruction and transition to learning centers!
