The Blog is Back!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! Please take a moment to enjoy all of the great learning that has been taking place in our classroom over the past few weeks.

Sight Word Homework
On Friday afternoon your child came home with a sight word homework packet. Please have your student use the flashcards included to review our Kindergarten sight words and build automaticity when reading them. Sight word flashcards can be kept at home and do not need to be returned to school. Thank you in advance for your help and support!

Literacy
Last week in Literacy we read the book See How We Grow by Katacha Diaz and discussed the question, "How do children change as they grow?". We also learned about the letter "K" and were introduced to the new sight words me, see, and look.

Math
For the past few weeks we have been learning about addition and subtraction in class! We have been working hard to build the understanding that addition is when you join two groups together, and subtraction is when you separate a group and take something away. We will continue practicing our addition and subtraction skills this week as we become more familiar with the +, -, and = signs.

The students above practice adding by making their own cube towers and then joining them with a friend's!

Science Fun!
Last week's snowy weather made for great science conversations. After reading The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, we decided to have our own fun with snow! Like Peter in the story, we brought our own snowballs inside. While we all agreed that our snowballs would melt in our warm classroom, we took our exploration a step further by making snowballs that were two different size (small and large). We predicted that the smaller snowball would melt faster and we were right!

What better way to end our week then by showing some Patriots pride! GO PATS!!

Thanks so much for stopping by to learn about all that is new in Room 202! Please check back soon for more updates!
