Curriculum Update:

ABC Countdown to Summer!
The ABC Countdown to Summer continued last week with relay race, stuffed animal, toy, USA, and virtual field trip days! Please enjoy a few pictures of our alphabet fun below!

USA Day
We were feeling very patriotic in Room 202 as we celebrated USA day! We learned about the rules for taking care of our flag, as well as other America symbols such as the bald eagle and statue of liberty.

Virtual Field Trip Day
Virtual field trip day was an absolute blast as we got to explore many new and exciting places around the world! Our first stop was a volcano in Hawaii. The class got an up close look at an active volcano, then enjoyed making their own volcanoes using Model Magic clay!

Our next stop was a coral reef! It was an amazing experience to travel to the ocean floor and see beautiful coral and marine life such as puffer fish, sea anemones, parrot fish, clown fish, octopuses and so much more! After our field trip the children created their own coral reef pictures using crayons and watercolor paint.

Our last stop was Disney World! We had a magnificent time exploring the Magic Kingdom and exploring all the sights. Please click here if your child would like to enjoy this virtual field trip again at home!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to see all that is new in Room 202!

A Peek At Our Week!

Sunday, June 6, 2021 No comments

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! It's hard to believe that the week ahead is our last full one together in Kindergarten! Where did the year go? As the school year comes to a close, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress in class. Please know that if I had pressing concerns I would have been in touch by now. In other words, no news is good news! :)

Important Dates:

June 17th:
Last Day of School for Students

Announcements:

Sight Words and Math Facts
This is a gentle request to please continue to have your child practice their sight word and math fact flashcards at home. I will begin assessing the students on their sight word and math fact fluency this week for their term 2 report card. It is important to note that a child is considered fluent when they are able to read a word or solve an addition/subtraction problem automatically. This means no sounding out words or using their fingers to solve math problems. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress in this area!

ABC Countdown to Summer!
Our ABC Countdown to Summer will continue this week! Please check the schedule I sent home for each day's theme!

Chromebooks
A friendly reminder to please have your child charge their chrome book every so often at home. We use our chrome books at least once a day, and while I do have extra chargers in the classroom, our lack of outlets can make things tricky! Thanks so much in advance for your help and support!

Curriculum:

ABC Countdown to Summer!
Last week we began transitioning into the review phase for our Lucy Calkins reading and writing programs, and our ABC Countdown to Summer became more of our daily focus. Please enjoy a few pictures from some very fun ABC themed days!

Ninja Day!
Ninja day was a HUGE hit and the class enjoyed making their own ninja writing journals as well as making a ninja craft project from a toilet paper roll!

Outside Day
The weather on Tuesday couldn't have been better for Outside Day! We had a blast playing sight word hopscotch, participating in parachute play, and practicing our math facts in some relay-type races!

Play Doh Day!
Play Doh Day was perfect for practicing our sight words!

Question Day!
While the main theme for the letter Q was questions, we were also able to squeeze in some Q-Tip painting! Q day turned out to be quite entertaining!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our week! Please check back soon to see all that is new in Room 202!
