Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Congratulations to Kaylei and Jackie who did an outstanding job with Boyden's Cookie Dough Fundraiser. These two ladies enjoyed a pizza lunch (served by Mr. Dearborn!) as a reward for their tremendous effort and impressive sales. Great job!!!

Puppets in the Park
A BIG thank you to Mrs. Kelleher, Mrs. Savary and Mrs. Shaughnessy who joined us on our field trip to Bird Park to see 'Cardboard Explosion'. Although the weather was a bit chilly, a wonderful time was still had by all!

Curriculum Update

Literacy
The theme of our learning for the past few weeks has been 'Going Places', and the children have had a great time discussing how people in different parts of the world travel and go to school. We have also been learning about the letters 'V' and 'Z' and practicing our last two sight words come and where!

Making mini volcanoes was the perfect activity for 'V' week!

Math
We have been working on Topic 13 in math which focuses on sorting, counting, classifying and categorizing data. Last week the children sorted objects by one attribute such as size, shape, or color!

Science
These last few weeks have sure been an exciting time for Science in our classroom! After meeting our new caterpillars at the beginning of the month, we then enjoyed watching them change into chrysalises. We got a BIG surprise this week as our butterflies emerged overnight and were ready for release. We were sad to say goodbye but enjoyed being a part of their transformation!

A BIG Boyden thank you to Mrs. Deb Haskins who visited Kindergarten last week and showed us some super awesome x-rays! This was a great way to review the letter 'X' that we learned about a few weeks ago. Thank you Mrs. Haskins!

Curriculum

Literacy
Last week in Literacy we read the story Messenger Messenger by Robert Burleigh and discussed the question. "What kinds of transportation help people do their jobs?". We also learned all about the letter 'U' and were introduced to the sight words said, what, and was.

Last week's rainy weather was perfect for making word family umbrellas!

Math
We began Topic 12 last week in Math which focuses on measurement! We has a great time measuring with cubes, paper clips, pasta, and pennies and learned that these unconventional measuring tools are considered nonstandard units of measure!

We had a great time measuring our feet after reading The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss!

Science
It sure has been an exciting time for Science in our classroom as we just began a unit on the butterfly life cycle! The children had a great time studying our new caterpillar friends and drawing what they observed. We are looking forward to watching our caterpillars grow and change in the next few weeks!
